Everyone knows the sun sign (think cheesy newspaper horoscopes), but this is only one of ten planets each correlating with a different aspect of our life. As the planets move through the zodiac we are called to look within, provoking particular themes with every transit. How does your map align with the current sky above? As an educator, each birth chart reading incorporates a lesson of the foundation of astrology so that you may become empowered as your own astrologer. Community Engagement

The Moon and Me has taught in the Freedom on the Inside: Missoula’s jail yoga program since 2018. Each week five classes are taught to inmates in the women’s, men’s, and juvenile blocks of the Missoula County Detention Center. Students delve into a somatic experience of breath and gentle movement, gaining access to tools for healing and thriving both inside and outside of jail.

Why this work matters

Recently while teaching in the juvenile block a returning student seemed agitated and asserted "I don't want to be here." I reminded him that no one is required to stay in class and he corrected "No, not here. HERE as in jail. Yoga is the best part of my week. I look forward to class as soon as I leave. It’s what keeps me sane."
